I went to the Saatchi Gallery on Saturday. Richard Wilson's work is worth checking out: it consists of a room filled with oil. It's very disorienting, because you think you're looking at a mirror on a raised platform, reflecting the ceiling, but it's actually a perfectly still, glassy pool of sump oil (waste oil from engines). As soon as you notice what it is you're looking at, the smell becomes quite intense. Bizarre and fascinating. And oddly beautiful.
